Eghersis
is a transliteration of the Greek word, εγερσις, which has the meaning of being roused to life. Thus, it is my hope that what you find on this blog will empower, arouse, stimulate, excite, and animate your life--your soul, your spirit--the wholeness of who you are.

Forty Words for Forty Days: Day 31-Create

Create is a thinking, feeling, sensing, doing, and making word. It makes what has not yet been. It transforms what has been into something that was not. It rearranges what is into something that will be. It does what has not yet been done. It imagines what could be. It considers the past, the present, and the future. It remembers what was and what is and fashions what will be. It brings into existence.

Create belongs to everyone. The visual artist, the performing artist, and the behind-the-scenes artist. It belongs to the mechanic, the architect, the engineer, the surgeon, the nurse, the veterinarian, the dentist. Gardeners create. Farmers create. Teachers create. Musicians create. Administrators and assistants. Drug addicts and dealers. Clerks and accountants. Ministers and lay people. Police and gang members. Soldiers and civilians. Women and men. Children and teens. Alcoholics. Presidents, dictators, prime ministers. Pimps and prostitutes. Street vendors and taxi drivers. Everyone creates and brings into existence.

Some create what is helpful and useful. Some create what is hurtful and destructive. Some create what is minor. Some create what is major. Some create while fully aware and others create unaware. Create implies that there is one who creates. A creator. One who brings into existence.

Create is a gift. It is a gift from the One Who Exists—The Creator. The Creator gave create to creators. For what purpose? So that the creators might reflect The Creator and bring into existence that which respects The Creator’s image.

Here is my reflective question for the day: “What do you create and how does it show respect for The Creator’s image?”
