Mattered to Jesus

As all the pages in this altered book, this one came from a meditation. It reflects the woundedness of women, an issue that was coming up for me at the time. It is my favorite page.

Journey

This page is directly opposite the Up and Down page, so the spread seems to indicate that being a helix in the matrix is an up and down journey. Agreeable.

The title for this page is Up and Down. As I thought about the helical imagery, this kind of movement seemed to describe the Spirit's power in my life. And like all the art pages in this book, Up and Down is a visual representation of my meditative experience.

Altered Book: On Being a Helix in the Trinitarian Matrix

This is the title page of my On Being a Helix altered book.

In my meditation, the ocean and beach were prominent images. But I had a sense of tangled movement, so this is a representation of that meditation.

Altered Book: On Being a Helix

Several months back, I wrote a series with the title On Being a Helix in the Trinitarian Matrix. Out of these writings came an idea for an altered book. It is a hanging piece and each altered page reflects what it means for me to be a helix in the Trinitarian matrix.

Before beginning each page, I spent time meditating. Then for each page, I would begin with color. Next, I added whatever described my meditative experience. I fitted a helical image into the design; and then to finish, I gave it a title. As I reflected on the book as a whole, I find that it tells the story of my helical journey in the Presence.
