Eghersis
is a transliteration of the Greek word, εγερσις, which has the meaning of being roused to life. Thus, it is my hope that what you find on this blog will empower, arouse, stimulate, excite, and animate your life--your soul, your spirit--the wholeness of who you are.

Mother Bear

This is the season for bears in the northern hemisphere to give birth to their cubs. It is interesting that this occurs in the winter months and during hibernation. The cubs are nurtured in the den until springtime.

As I was reading this information, I began to think about my own seasons of hibernation—those times when I feel the need to be alone in a place of quiet rest. It is in these seasons that something within is born. Whatever the “something” is, it is nurtured in this quiet place until the time comes for it to emerge into active life.

Until the right time comes, it is too young to be introduced into the world of noise and distraction and possibly danger. Like the mother bear, I must allow whatever is being born in me to grow and become strong. I protect it and keep it safe. In this way, like the cubs, I can enter the active life healthy and able to face what the waking world offers.
